Hearing Loss Can Hurt Marriage....Say Again?

For any person that has ever been married - you know marriage is not always easy. Healthy communication experts say is often the key to a successful marriage. So it is not surprising that untreated hearing loss, which hinders communication abilities, can hurt a marriage.

A recent British study revealed, after interviewing 1500 persons over the age of 55 with hearing loss, that 44% of respondents felt their relationship with their partner, friends or family had suffered because they can't hear properly. In 2007 Energizer released a similar study done in the United State that revealed 48% of respondents felt their marriage had suffered due to their spouse's hearing loss.

Stop Being the Ears of the Hearing-impaired in Denial!

One of the most aggravating aspects of living with an individual with hearing loss, who is in denial (everyone mumbles they say),  is constantly repeating your self, speaking louder, or interpreting the world for them. There is a way to release yourself from this maddening co-dependent relationship and at the same time to motivate your loved to seek help for their hearing loss.
